Our first glimpse at the “real world” that our characters live in. Carmot’s pawn shop is owned by Lex and Cal’s friend, Carmot.
Carmot’s name is based on “a mythical element of which the philosopher’s stone was believed to be composed.” This is suiting because as a modern day pawn shop owner, he literally converts junk into gold on a regular basis.
Another unexplained mystery that is common enough to be reported on the news in this world. Spontaneous combustion is a phenomenon that results in humans randomly bursting into flame. There have been a number of reported accounts without explanation.
In the debut issue, Lex and Cal take a trip to Jekyll Island circa 1913 – the birthplace of the Federal Reserve. Here they must fight off hordes of sheeple as they uncover the plans of Alexander Graham Bell, JP Morgan, William Rockefeller, and other elites.
